Operation Life Support, or OLS, was an organization of My So-Called Life fans dedicated to generating support for the continuation of the show. OLS was organized by Steve Joyner and Robyn Landis on November 30, 1994. This was the first online fan campaign undertaken to save a beloved TV show. Fans sent ABC thousands of letters that pleaded with network executives to renew the show for a second season and posted on AOL in an attempt to revive the teen drama from Cancellation. They took out ads and even sold T-shirts and other merchandise to gain support. One set of merchandise they sold was all the episodes (up to that point) on VHS (see VHS releases).
